Kirk Meighoo published on

Colette Beyer is a former Political Brand Strategist working in Washington from 2004 to 2014, spanning the George Bush, Jr. and Obama Presidencies.

In this in-depth conversation, Colette shares her first-hand insights into what it was like living in Washington, DC, the surprising urban ruins of the 1960s riots that persisted into the 2000s, the changes brought about with the arrival of the Obamas, her inability to escape partisan labelling, the closure of the firm she worked for due to fraud and embezzlement charges, her subsequent joining the police force in response to the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, and the utter chaos and hysterical reactions after the election of Donald Trump.

Colette has also started her own podcast, “Master of Her Craft”, dedicated to helping women in first-responder professions to achieve excellence.
