Cycling is in and of itself a relatively inexpensive activity- practically everyone owns a bike at some point and it costs nothing to operate. However, as a competitive athlete, Cycling can quickly become much like a cruise vacation with eye-watering add-ons - shoes, helmet, clothing, race wheels, gruppo upgrades, coaching($?), sunglasses($$$?), heck even travel and entry fees.... it can get out of control in a hurry. With each price range promising speed beyond the limits of the previous, where do you draw the line? How do you make sure you aren't being held back? And where is it okay to splurge? All that and more...
