Things go dark on this week's Back to the Movies as we discuss the recent horror smash hit Don't Breathe. This week Dalton Stuart returns once again to share his enthusiasm for Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead before delving into our review of Don't Breathe.
To break the ice, Dalton and I both discuss what we've been watching. Dalton caught up with Mike Birbiglia's Don't Think Twice and the political drama from House of Cards showrunner Beau Willimon's Ides of March. I talk a little bit about my recent foray back into anime, Digimon, and Harry Potter after landing a new writing job. We also take a moment to discuss the passing of the legendary Gene Wilder by discussing some of his most memorable performances.
Don't Breathe is directed by Sam Raimi's most recent Evil Dead protege Fede Alvarez and stars Jane Levy, Stephen Lang,Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto. The story follows three teens as they attempt to break in and rob a blind veteran after he wins a major settlement for a tragic accident. The film looks like an intense thrill ride in the trailers, but is there any more to this one than an interesting gimmick?
