Sinistro The LAST COWBOY - Ugliest cigar ever?

Ellory Wells published on

On a cold and windy day in May and at the request of YouTube commenter, Robert, I decided to grab The Last Cowboy from Sinistro Cigars. And wow, this is one ugly cigar. But, with cigars, you can't judge a book (cigar) by its cover (wrapper). Let's see what The Last Cowboy has in store for us!

Initial Thoughts:

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I love cigar subscription boxes because I get to taste cigars I might never buy for myself. That said, when someone else is picking out your smoke, well... you might end up with something you don't love. Whatever your reasons, check out Luxury Cigar Club, they've always sent me something interesting. And, that includes the cigar for today, The Last Cowboy by Sinistro cigars. At first glance, this is one of the ugliest cigars I've ever seen. Both the head and the foot of the cigar are unraveled and shaggy, and I kind of wondered how I was supposed to smoke it. However, I cut the shaggy head with my guillotine, and the cigar smoked easily like any other torpedo I've had. The flavors started light but rich, and I'm excited to see how the Sinistro Last Cowboy smokes!

Brand: Sinistro
Line: The Last Cowboy

Final Thoughts:

Everything was great until... Like the beginning of every horror movie, that's how The Last Cowboy from Sinistro was for me. Everything was great until I reached the beginning of the final third of the cigar. It was at that point (see the video at 13:45) that I decided to cut more off the head of the cigar to open up the smoke. It was then that almost all of the rich flavors disappeared and were replaced by harshness, which transformed into something quite awful. Although I struggled to find the right Score for The Last Cowboy, I think a CigarScore of 2 is fair (though disappointing). This cigar is extremely well made, the burn was perfect, and the draw was mostly good. Had the final third not bombed my palate with bad flavors, this cigar would have easily earned a CigarScore of a 4 or 5.
