Episode 7- Wes Anderson

Matthew Goudreau published on

Hello and welcome to yet another episode of Directors of Cinema, the podcast that highlights the careers of cinema’s most prominent directors. Each week, host Matthew Goudreau and a guest discuss selected works of a director chosen by the guest.

On this episode, Matt welcomes fellow TYF writer Yasmin Kleinbart to the airwaves. After a brief diversion into talking about some upcoming summer films, they finally get onto the main topic; Wes Anderson. Although his style has recieved praise from fans and critics alike, his detractors frequently argue that his films may be a little too over-stylized to compensate for a lack of story. Do Matt and Yasmin feel that Anderson's films are a perfect unison of visual and narrative storytelling? Listen to find out.

The films discussed in this episode include:

  • Bottle Rocket
  • The Royal Tenenbaums
  • The Darjeeling Limited
  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel

As always, you can listen to the show directly on Shoutengine or you can download it for later enjoyment.
