Finding Her Voice Episode Seven: Noirvember
For episode seven we decided to go with a well trodden theme with Noirvember. As someone who considers herself well-versed in cinema and its history, even I am still mildly preplexed on just where to start when diving into the genre and I think Gaby and AJ felt similarly. Luckily we had some great resources on Twitter which helped direct us to The Hitch-Hiker (1953) and Bound (1996). The first was tremendously shot, tense and tightly shot and the second senual and daring in how it portrayed women capturing and not releasing their agency.
We had plenty of thoughts on the films but still ended the month and the podcast wondering where next to go to explore film-noir further. If you have any suggestions, make sure to let us know on Twitter @FindingHerVoice.
Snow is currently falling outside my window as I type this, so it seems appropriately timed to say we're talking about hoilday movies in December! We'll be watching Penny Marshall's Big and Nancy Meyers The Holiday. Make sure to watch along with us so you can join in the coversation at the end of the month.
Enjoy the holidays until then!
