27: Sheikh Imran Hosein | Discovering the Epic Story Driving Global Politics (Part 2)

Kirk Meighoo published on

This week's episode is a continued discussion with international Islamic scholar, Sheikh Imran Hosein, originally aired on his television programme "Signs of the Times" broadcasting from Trinidad and Tobago. This is the second of our two part discussion. The first part was published last week.

In this second part, Sheikh Hosein and I continue to discuss how World History and Current Events can be understood coming from both Western-originated Political Science and Islamic Eschatology, in a way that is mutually intelligible.

Topics include the 5,000-year economic history of the current world system, the abundance vs. the imperialist approaches to politics and economics, the (d)evolution of the international monetary system, ancient and mediaeval theological links between sodomy and usury, usury creating flows from the poor to the rich, the fractional reserve banking system, the de-linking of the dollar from gold, the Venezuelan crisis, moving away from the IMF and World Bank, the New Silk Road and the Belt and Road Initiative, the Caribbean response to US belligerence.
