Dr. Jonathan Owen – On the Search for New Energy Sources, while Nurturing Young Minds
Dr. Jonathan Owen, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Columbia University, provides the audience with the path that led him from high school to college, grad school at Caltech, one of the most prestigious universities in the world, and eventually become a Professor at
Prof. Owen is an American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund (ACS PRF) Fellow and recipient of various awards such as the 3M Nontenured Faculty Award and the DuPont Young Faculty Award.
Professor Owen’s group studies the inorganic chemistry of semiconductor and metal nanocrystals.
These studies are aimed at describing the relationship between structure and electronic properties in nanocrystals and are leading to practical renewable energy technologies.
Professor Owen is particularly interested in solution-processed semiconductor films that interconvert the energy in sunlight, electricity, and chemicals.
