Tiger Talk: Can I get an Off Day Skip?
Motor City Bengals presents "Tiger Talk" with host Dave Holcomb. Co-host Matt Pelc was unable to do the show this week but wishes all his fellow Tigers fans well.
The Detroit Tigers had another up-and-down week, but they were able to split the four-game series with the Royals in Kansas City to avoid falling out of first place. In the first three games of the series, the offense was a major problem, scoring just four runs.
Although it is still too early to panic, some small changes are healthy and sometimes even neccessary, so Holcomb suggests, just as guest Steve Mitzel did last week, that a change in the batting lineup is in order.
It is also important that manager Brad Ausmus start getting some of his stars off days. Six of his nine regulars have played in at least 25 of the Tigers' 26 games this season. That could help explain why the Detroit offense is either feast or famine. Surely it can't be the only reason, but perhaps on some days, the starters are just tired from lack of rest.
In the second segment, Holcomb names the candidates for the Detroit Tigers franchise four and picks his four winners. Fans can vote for the Tigers franchise four, along with any other franchise, on MLB.com until May 8.
Finally, Holcomb explains in the 'Around the League' segment why this notion that baseball is too long and slow is asinine with a very passionate rant to end the show.
