A Brotherhood of Strength: Umer ibn al Khattab (r) and Abu-Bakr (r)

ayman mohamed published on

The reign of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) was exactly what the Ummah needed for the turmoil and difficulty it would see in the months that followed the passing of Rasulullah (saw). During that time, Umar ibn al-Khattab (r) played the role of his closest advisor and friend. Often people view these two men as opposites and associate opposite stereotypes to both, but there is so much more to learn about them and their relationship. Today, as we mark the passing of Abu Bakr (r) and the ascendence of Umar (r) to the position of Khalifa, we explore the lessons that are often missed.
