Float therapy has become one of my go to self-care therapies for muscle recovery, stress reduction, and calming my monkey mind. James Kilgallon, CSCS is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who is now the general manager of LifeFloat in Seattle, WA. LifeFloat's float pools are inspired by German float pools and are an alternative to float pods.
Floating has been researched to benefit chronic stress, pain, and inflammation that can manifest as anxiety and depression. We discuss the theory behind using hydrotherpy and floating for regulating physiology.
